Vehicle Crash in Ridge Leaves One Dead

Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a Riverhead woman in Ridge yesterday afternoon.

Nora Uyu was a passenger in a 1994 Toyota pickup truck driven by her husband, Francisco Top. Their truck was traveling westbound on Route 25 when a 2006 Toyota Corolla, heading eastbound, entered their lane and struck the pickup truck at 5:15 p.m. The driver of the Corolla was Jenise Perna, 21, of Shirley.

Uyu, 32, of 981 Harrison Ave., Riverhead was transported by Ridge Fire Department Rescue to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center where she was pronounced dead at 6:13 p.m.

Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check.
