Mastic Beach Man Saved

Suffolk County Police Fifth Precinct officers revived a Mastic Beach man who was in cardiac arrest on a softball field in Patchogue.

Officers Paul Schreiber and Edward Ryby responded to a 911 call and found Christian Barton, 30, unconscious with labored breathing. The officers were assessing the condition of Barton when he stopped breathing and went into cardiac arrest. The officers administered CPR with the assistance of Patchogue Public Safety Officer Jim Mylett. Officer Schreiber applied the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) which caused Barton’s pulse to restart and he resumed breathing.

Patchogue Ambulance responded and transported Barton, of 15 Spar Drive, to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center where he is being treated.

I'm glad Mr. Barton was saved, but I hope they run a battery of tests on him -- 30 is way too young to start having heart problems.
